Being anonymous is a good thing

The scholars and the righteous of this Ummah always feared fame and becoming well-known amongst the people. They would dislike for their name to be mentioned much and you can see one of them fleeing from the people as if they were a fitnah (trial), whilst at other times you can see one get up and leave the circle of knowledge which he was conducting because the numbers became too many.

Below here are some amazing statements from our predecessors that allude to just how much they held onto sincerity and how much they fled from fame and from being spoken about.

Ibn Mas’ood (radhiallahu `anhu): ‘(O people!) Be the springs of knowledge and the lamps of guidance! Stick to your homes and be like a light in the night, revivers of hearts, wearing worn-out clothes, you will then be known by the people of the heavens and be hidden among the people of the earth.’

A man said to Bishr: ‘Advice me.’ So he said, ‘Let your mention be unknown…’ And Hushib would be found crying saying, ‘My name has reached the Masjid!’

Both Ibrahim al-Nakha’i and al-Hasan used to say, ‘It is enough of an evil that a man should be pointed at in matters of Deen or Dunya (i.e. out of fame), except him whom Allah has protected. Righteousness lies here’ and he’d point to his chest three times.

Ibrahim ibn Adham: ‘A slave who loves fame has not been truthful to Allah.’

Aasim: ‘If more than four people came and sat around Abul-‘Aaliyah, he would get up and leave.’

Dawud al-Ta’i used to say: ‘Flee from people just like you would flee from a lion.’

Imam Ahmad: ‘Glad tidings be to the one whose mention has been hidden by Allah!’ And he would say, ‘I wish for something that will never be… I wish to be in a place devoid of other people.’

Dhul-Nun: ‘Being pleased with being around people is from the signs of bankruptcy’

Fudhayl ibn ‘Iyyadh: ‘If you can get by without being known, then do so. What does it bother you that people will not praise you, and what does it bother you that you may be blameworthy in the sight of people if in the Sight of Allah you are praiseworthy?’

Muhammad ibn al-‘Alaa ibn Musayyib from Basra wrote to Muhammad Yusuf al-Asbahani saying, ‘O my brother, whoever loves Allah loves that he remain unknown (to the people).’

Bishr ibn al-Harith: ‘I do not know a single man who loves fame except that he loses his religion and becomes disgraced. No-one who has fear of Allah, loves to be known amongst the people.’

He (rahimahullah) also said: ‘A man who loves that everyone should know him, will never find the sweetness of the Hereafter.’

Yazid ibn Abi Habib: ‘Indeed from the fitnah of a scholar is that speech should become more pleasing to him than silence and listening.’

Abu Huraira (radhiallahu `anhu) used to say: ‘Were it not for an ayah in the Book of Allah, I would not have narrated to you people (ayah below):

‘Verily, those who conceal the clear proofs, evidences and the guidance, which We have sent down, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, they are the ones cursed by Allah and cursed by the cursers.’ [al-Baqarah: 159]

Al-Sha’bi: ‘We tried incredibly hard to get Ibrahim al-Taymi to sit down in the masjid and narrate to the people but he refused.’

Ibn Abi Layla: ‘I met a hundred and twenty Companions of the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam), and none of them would narrate except that he loved his brother to suffice him of that. And none of them gave fatawa except that he wished his brother would suffice him of that.’

‘Abdullah ibn Abbas: ‘Indeed Allah has slaves who have been silenced by the fear of Allah although they are eloquent in speech.’

Sufyan al-Thawri: ‘If you can become a scholar without being known, then do so. For indeed the people, if they knew what was in you, they would eat your flesh.’

He (rahimahullah) wouldn’t allow more than three people to sit in his gathering. One day, more than three came and he saw his gathering had increased so he stood up in fear and said, ‘By Allah, we have been taken and we do not even feel it! By Allah, if the leader of the faithful, ‘Umar (radhiallahu `anhu) were to see someone like me sitting in this gathering he would make me stand up and say ‘The like of you is not worthy of this!’

It is reported that when he sat to narrate hadeeth, he would sit in fear and terror. If a cloud passed over him, he would become silent until it passed then he’d say, ‘I feared that it contained stones with which we would be struck with.’

When Bishr al-Hafi abandoned narrating hadeeth in a gathering, the people said to him: ‘What are you going to say to your Lord when He asks you ‘Why did you abandon narrating to the people the statements of My Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam)?!’ He (rahimahullah) said, ‘I will say, O my Lord. You have commanded me to do it with sincerity but I did not find that in me.’

It was said to Sufyan Ibn ‘Uyaynah once, ‘Won’t you sit and narrate to us?’ He (rahimahullah) said: ‘By Allah, I don’t see you worthy of being narrated to nor do I see myself worthy of being listened to.’

Ibrahim Ibn Adham; -

Ibrahim ibn Adham: ‘I never found delight in living except in al-Sham (greater Syria). I would flee with my religion from heights to heights and from mountain to mountain. Whoever saw me said ‘He’s delusional’ and whoever saw me said ‘He’s a porter.’

He (rahimahullah) would also say: ‘The scholars! When they taught they would act (righteous deeds) and when they acted, they would become busy in that, and when they became busy they would be missed by the people and when they were missed, they would be sought out by the people, and when they were sought, they would flee.’

One day he passed by the gathering of al-Awza’i (rahimahullah) and saw that a large number of people had gathered. So he said, ‘If all this crowding was around Abu Huraira, he would have departed from it.’ This reached al-Awza’i who got up and abandoned the gathering from that day on.

Ibrahim ibn Adham was an amazing personality masha’Allah; he tried hard to keep away from the people in fear of them mentioning him too much. But his fame shot up and his name became so widespread to the point that it was said one time ‘He is in the garden’ (where he worked tending to crops), so the people entered it, encircling it, saying ‘Where is Ibrahim ibn Adham?’ So he began to encircle along with them saying, ‘Where is Ibrahim ibn Adham?!’ [Point being here that his name, character and reputation was known but he himself was hardly seen so they didn’t recognise him!]

:He (rahimahullah) said ‘My eye never found solace and delight in a day of this world except once. I spent the night in a mosque in one of the villages in al-Sham whilst I had a stomach sickness. The mu’adhin then grabbed me by my leg and dragged me out of the mosque!’ – He found solace in this because the man did not recognise him and he did not leave the mosque as he was ill and illness had made him remain in the mosque.

A Muslim is the brother of a muslim, he does him no wrong, nor does he let him down, nor does he despise him. Fear of God is here, fear of God is here, and he pointed to his chest. Abu Dzar ra then begged for more advice. Rasulullah sawsaid : "Be consistent in recitation of Al-Qur'an and remembrance of Allah, because it is 'nur' in this world and 'zakhirah' in the heaven.

When Abu Dzar ra again asked for more advice, Rasulullah saw said : "Let your own faults prevent you from criticizing others and do not try to find fault with others, because you commit those faults yourself. It is enough to prove you guilty that you should find in others such faults as you yourself posess, though you may not be aware of them, and that you should find in others such misdeeds as you yourself commit".

Jangan Futur

Assalamualaikum,

Aku bukan apa hanyalah manusia. Aku selalu mengingatkan kata kata Ibuku, "Leha preparing for exam is like preparing for battle(peperangan)!"

(Al-Anfal:178)

Means dont' give up and leave the battle! But if i still follow syaitan and give up, this is where i'll end up. =S Takut nye!!!

(Ali-Imran: 139)

Jika saya ini orang2 beriman. Itu tak komfem lagi.....hmmmm. Takpe Leha, takpe Allah tak tengok result. Allah tengok usaha. Ingat tu Leha. Jangan malas malas...hei apa nak jadi ni....

FOCUS!

grrrrr

Meet my friend Bret Martin

Around five months ago, i came to know this Youtube user named ClevonAmerica. I have been watching many of his videos. I was touched about what he had to say about Islam. He is not a Muslim, though he believes in a God. His name is Bret Martin.

Bret really inspired me to look deep into my self. He actually made me think about how i as a Muslim should react towards other people of other faiths. He said that Islam is such a beautifull religion, but sadly many Muslims dont want to show it and tell it to the world.

Through his videos, you will also learn about his past experiences. Bret is a colon cancer survivor. He had a ileostomy that was later reversed. He said his cancer saved his life because it woke him up from the deep coma he in was in for so many years. I could kind of relate to the things he says because i also feel like i just woke up from my comma a year ago. He now is happily marrid with five children. Two of them are adopted. The recent one is from Ethiopia!

I always pray and hope that one day Bret will become a Muslim because though he does not know it yet, i'm sure deep down inside he knows that Islam is the religion for all mankind.

Several quotes i'll never forget he said is that, "When you judge people, don't judge them with a broad brush because you are going to effect other people who are innocent together with that brush." and "Remember every person is their individual soul, their individual mind"

Thanks Bret for your friendship and you beautifull kind words. You will always be my inspiration. May you find true peace and may we meet in Jannah someday insyaAllah. =)

Can you hear the people calling?

Hey can i just let you in a little secret...i was like you before. I didn't want to listen to what everyone told me to do. I was like a rebel in my family. I was most of the time selfish towards people around me. I thought being the bad girl was "COOL" and i thought the whole world revolved around me. me. me. me. me...selfish kan?

But now i tak nak jadi orang seperti itu lagi. Sebab apa tau. I learnt that dalam dunia ni....semua benda yang kita buat dekat orang akan datang balik kepada kita. I had to learn it the hard way ofcourse. Masa tuh my whole world crumbled right infront of my eyes. Everything i did only brought more destruction than good. I didn't even know how to solve that problem at that time. I was stranded in my own mess.

Diri terasa sangat asing kerana rasa seperti tiada orang kisah tentang aku.

I had to work REALLY hard to change my life. So i did. I tried all possible ways to ask from my Rabb to please take this deep depression away from me. Takyah kisahlah apa orang nak cakap..

Tapi aku tak peduli apa orang nak kata. Lantak aku lah! Ish!

Anyways, while flipping through the pages datanglah kepada ayat ini,

(An-Nisa:110)

Air mataku mula mengalir. Ya Tuhanku! Betapa pemurahnya Engkau. My mom, my bro, my sis, budak kat sekolah tu, pastu cikgu Physics...hmmmm... and the list goes on and on. Malamtu aku betul-betul mintak kat Allah supaya perbaikkan hubungan aku dengan mereka semua.

Lepastu akupun sedar kenapa takboleh tidur. Sebab aku lupa baca doa sebelum tidur. Masa kecik-kecik dulu aku dan abangku(zd) tidur sebilik. Kita orang rajin baca doa tidur sama-sama sebab takut nanti hantu takde-kepala tu masuk melalui tingkap atas yang terbuka. Dah tua-tua ni malas pulak nak baca. Lepastu baru aku tidur dengan nyenyak. huhuhu

So after that from one good thing led to anotherlah.

(Saba 34:39)

So aku cerita nibukan nak sindir engkau ke apa. Just nak sharing je. BYe awak. Muuuaaah!=)

An Idea to start Journal writing

The following is a list of starting places. If you don't know what to write about, try one of these.

1. Pick a current issue. Describe variously held positions. Respond to the issue or to one of the positions.
2. Pick a recent personal experience. Describe it. Analyze your feelings about it, answering the question, "Why do I feel this way?"
3. Express something that has been bothering you. Try to discover why it is bothering you. Propose a solution.
4. Describe a place. Discuss the feelings associated with it. Tell an event that happened there.
5. Describe a feeling and try to discover what is prompting it.
6. Liken an event, object, or feeling to something different. Try to draw as many parallels between the two as possible.
7. Imitate someone else's style, but use your own subject.
8. Copy a saying or short passage from someone else's writing (story, book, poem, essay). Tell what it means to you, how you feel about it, and why.
9. Explain what you learned about yourself in your first job.
10. Explain a worship service you have participated in to a person who has never gone.
11. Create your dream apartment.
12. Write down every thing that is within six feet of you.
13. Write about the first time you returned home after leaving.
14. Describe a process you often go through: brushing teeth, programming the VCR, ordering pizza.
15. Describe your most memorable celebration experience--a birthday, holiday, wedding, graduation.
16. Close your eyes and listen. Describe everything you hear.
17. Close you eyes and feel your surroundings. Describe everything you feel.
18. Do something you've never done, and then write about it, describing what you did and how you feel about it.
19. Write down the lyrics of your favorite song; explain what they mean.
20. Describe something you use all the time (a pen, a fork, the sidewalk) and describe it from a new perspective.
21. Write a poem.
22. Go someplace you never go alone--out to eat, bowling, a show-- and explain how you feel.
23. Explain the plot and describe the characters of a book you want to write.
24. Write a character sketch of someone you are close to and admire. Describe their appearance, their mannerisms, their speech. Tell a story about them.
25. Write a character sketch of someone who aggravates you or of someone who makes you angry.
26. Write a scene in which you say something you wish you had said (but didn't).
27. Watch an animal for a while and make up a life story about it.
28. Dream a little. Describe what kind of life you will have ten years from now.
29. Walk down memory lane. Tell stories of your past experience. Describe people you once knew. Describe places you've been. Tell how you used to do something.
30. Assume the role of a character in history and write to another character in history.
31. Compare a modern TV program with a similar one that runs in reruns.

Justice Vs Forgiveness…. Which one is better?

Justice Vs Forgiveness…. Which one is better?

All Muslims claim to know that love, forgiveness, kindness and charity
are facets of their faith. It’s the same with every other major religions out there I’m sure, whether Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and many others.

If we all claim to be apart of any one of these religions, how come there
is still so much suffering in this world? Could it be that we are not really practicing our faith as we should be anymore? Have we all gone to a degree whereby we separate religion with our daily actions? If we all agree that this world was created by a Supreme Being. Why are we not obeying the laws that were put down to us by Him?

How many more children, women and men have to die in Palestine to make us wake up and see that we all need to set aside our differences and stand
together to fight for world peace!? How many more does it take for us
to see that I am you and you are me and we are all stuck in this world
together? We can't go anywhere else!? There is no point in fighting
over a piece of land. I mean can’t we all just learn to get along?

Throughout the world, a “peace fighter” named Bret Martin ones said "Who do I have to hate to be your friend? When are we going to see that us is them?" What he was
referring to, are the types of friendship people nowadays are building
with one another out of the hatred of someone else. By right we should not
hate anybody and we should certainly not support people who are taking
the human rights of others for what ever reason. Imagine, if you had a child that had died in your arms, how would you feel? You see, mothers everywhere love their children and would do anything to sacrifice their life to protect them. No love of a mother to her child is worth more or less than another in this world.

A change needs to be made in each and everyone of us. What we all can do is not only to give our support to those who are taking action in helping to heal the world. But what we also should do is help spread the message of peace, love, kindness and forgiveness to
one another. If you are online and you are having a dialog with somebody who is offensive and rude, try to show them some love and make them feel that in each and everyone of us, we all want the same thing. That is true peace and happiness in this life.
